Federation of Swiss Private Schools (FSPS)

We give Swiss private schools a voice

Private education requires good political, economic and legal framework conditions. To this end, the Federation of Swiss Private Schools (FSPS) speaks up. We represent our members’ interests – nationally and regionally.

The FSPS:

  • calls for good political, economic and legal framework conditions.
  • stands up for the right to a free choice of school, from a diverse range of options.
  • demands a fair funding system, with a level playing field for public and private schools alike

Successful commitment

The FSPS acts in the interests of private schools, as shown by the following examples:

  • Taxes: The FSPS has successfully campaigned against a VAT obligation for private education and in favour of education-related tax deductions.
  • Copyright fees: The FSPS has successfully defended itself against excessive copyright fees from ProLitteris, Swissimage and others.
  • Private schools register: The FSPS co-initiated the Swiss Private School Register – the only such register that is officially recognised. The authorities are satisfied that the registered schools meet the requirements for proper education and training under the law on foreign nationals.
  • Swiss Baccalaureate Commission: The FSPS acts in the interests of private schools within the Swiss Baccalaureate Commission (SBC).
