The FSPS monitors its members’ quality assurance and certifies it with the ‘Swiss Schools Quality Label’. This builds trust – among learners, students, parents and authorities. As a result, FSPS schools can apply for government education contracts and seek state recognition for individual courses. Certification occurs in accordance with FSPS regulations.

External certification
Member schools that have obtained external certification or that are on the Swiss Private School Register must submit proof of certification or re-certification to the FSPS main office without being asked to do so. The membership commission maintains a directory of recognised national and international quality systems.

Internal certification
Member schools that are subject to state supervision or comparable quality control can provide proof of quality via the federation’s internal quality assurance procedure. The application form, together with the required enclosures, must be submitted to the FSPS main office by email or post, no later than six months before the current certification expires. The membership commission reviews the application and conducts a school inspection.
The federation’s internal quality certificate is valid for four years. After that, the entire quality assurance process is repeated.
The cost of internal certification varies between CHF 700 and CHF 3,600 (depending on the total of all salaries subject to OASI contributions), plus CHF 1,500 for the school inspection (see appendix to the membership regulations).
